Addition (Add)
- the process of computing with sets of numbers to find their sum

A.M.
- any time between midnight and noon (The addreviation is short for the latin words ante meridan, meaning before the sun is at its highest point)

Angle
- space between two lines that meet in a point

Bar Graph
- a graphic that displays how data fall into different categories or groups

Centimeter
- a unit of length equal to 1/100 of a meter or 0.3937 inch

Circle
- line with no angles that makes a perfectly round shape

Cone
- a three dimensional solid that has a flat circle at one end and a point at the other

Cube
- a solid having six congruent square faces

Cup
- a measure of capacity equal to 1/2 pint, 8 ounces, or 16 tablespoons

Cylinder
- a three dimensional geometic solid that has flat circular ends

Dime

Dimension
- lenght, width, or height

Dozen
- a set of twelve

Equal - having the same quantity, measure, or value as another

Equal Sign - the symbol (=) used indicate logical or mathematical equivalence

Estimate
- to calculate approximately the extent or amount of

Even Numbers - a whole number that is divisible by 2. Even numbers have 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8 in the ones place.

Face - a planar surface bounding a solid

First
- corresponding in order to the number 1

Foot
- a U.S. customary unit of length equal to 12 inches or 1/3 yard

Fraction
- an indicated quotient of two quantities, a part of a whole

- a U.S. customary unit of volume or capacity used in liquid measure, equal to 4 quarts, or 3.785 liters

Greater Than
- larger, in comparison, in number, quantity, size or degree (Ex. 68 > 34)

Greatest - the biggest amount

Hand
- pointer on a clock or watch that shows the time

Half Past

Hexagon
- shape with six straight sides

Hour
- standard measure of time equal to 60 minutes

Inch
- a U.S. customary unit of length, equal to 1/12 of a foot or 2.54 centimeters

Least
- the smallest amount

Less Than
- smaller, in comparison, in number, quantity, size or degree (Ex. 13 < 45)

Line Segment
- a thin mark, made by a pen, pencil, or brush that has a beginning point and an ending point

Month

- a symbol used to represent a number

Number Line
- a line that graphicly expressed numbers

Number Sentence
- an equation or inequality with numbers (6+3=9 or
6 + 1 > 3)

odd number

a whole number that is not divisible by 2. All odd numbers have 1, 3, 5, 7, or 9 in the ones place.

Pictograph
- a pictoral device used to represent data with pictures or symbols

Pint

Polygon - any shape with three or more straight sides and angles

Quart - a U.S. customary unit of volume or capacity, used in liquid measure, equal to 2 pints or .946 liter

Quarter
- (1) one of the equal parts of something that has been divided ito four parts (2) a U.S. coin worth twenty-five cents with George Washington on the head's side and the bald eagle of the tail's side (*Exceptions being bicentenial and state quaters)

Rectangle
- four-sided shape with opposite sides of the same lengh and four angles the same size

Rectangular Prisim
- a prism with six rectangular faces

- an operation that gives the difference between two numbers

Symmetrical
- shape or picture that is balanced on both sides of a line

Tally marks
- marks made to keep track of things being counted

Temperature
- a measure of hotness or coldness

Trapezoid
- a quadrilateral having two parallel sides

Triangle
- shape with three sides and three angles

Triangular Prism - a prism with triangular bases

Triangular Pyramid - a pyramid with a triangular base

Year
- time is takes the earth to go around the sun, about 356 days
